The End of Season Dinner
There’s something wonderfully reassuring about traditions that carry on year after year, and the annual fishing club dinner is one of those occasions that seems to anchor the calendar just as reliably as the season itself.
The ‘Free For All’ weekend is always popular with members promising plenty of fishing time, riverbank picnics and the club’s AGM. The black tie dinner is a highlight of the three days and this year’s strong turnout reflected the continued enthusiasm and camaraderie within the club.
Dinner, as always, was an excellent affair thanks to the talented hospitality team at Hotel Endsliegh and gave everyone time to catch up and share news from the past season. As always, conversation mostly revolved around fishing highlights and near misses.
The after-dinner speaker was Rory Knight Bruce, a well-known countryside raconteur, writer, poet, and long-time champion of fly fishing; particularly for Atlantic salmon. Rory has spent decades documenting fishing culture around the world and is widely respected for his storytelling and knowledge of the sport. His talk was engaging, informative, and warmly received by members, providing an excellent close to the formal part of the evening.
Our thanks go to everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a success. We look forward to doing it all again next season.
