First Salmon of the Season

May 18, 2026

There’s a real sense of excitement along the riverbanks at Endseigh this week as we celebrate the first salmon catch of the season.

After a thrilling and lengthy battle, a magnificent 12lb salmon was successfully landed by one of our members at the ever-picturesque Underhill. The fish,  in superb condition, provided a memorable contest before finally being brought to the net.

The successful setup was an 11-foot switch rod paired with a classic claret and blue Cascade fly — a combination that proved irresistible to a feisty fish on the day.

The catch marks a wonderful start to the salmon season and has certainly further lifted spirits among members eager for the months ahead. With river conditions looking promising and fish beginning to show throughout the beats, anticipation is building for what could be an excellent year on the water.

Congratulations to the lucky angler on a fine fish and a memorable opening salmon for the club.

Tight lines to all for the season ahead.
